Due'le quartz , or Dlq for short , was a popular Japanese indie band that was formed in 1998 and disbanded in 2002. The name literally means "two sides of a crystal", figuratively the band wanted to deal musically with both sides of human nature, the conscious and the unconscious, for example, represented in Jekyll and Hyde , as the name of their first album expresses.

Band history

The band was founded in December 1998 by Sakito, the singer, and Ken, the guitarist, after which Kikasa and Kazuki joined the band Je * Reviens as bassist and drummer, respectively . They began their career in February 1999 in the Tokyo , Nagoya and Osaka region with small gigs, their first live performance was on February 14, 1999 in the Takadanobaba AREA . They then played at Ikebukuro Cyber and other famous live houses in the Kanto region . In April of the same year Due'le quartz took part in a major visual kei television appearance on TV Asahi . After performing at Shibuya Deseo , Ken left the band in May. As a reason, he gave musical differences. But since further performance dates were already planned, a new guitarist was quickly looked for and found in Miyabi . This line-up was also the regular line-up until the band broke up. The first live with Miyabi took place in the Meguro live station .

On November 21, 1999, the first mini album Mikansei no JEKYLL to HYDE ~ Wakage no Hitari ~ was released. The 3000 CDs were sold in a very short time, so that a new edition appeared that is also out of print. Due to their steadily increasing popularity, the second mini-album "Jisatsu Ganbou" was released in May 2000. Once again the demand was enormous, a second and a third press had to be delivered. On August 1st, 2000 the official “Baby Mary” fan club was opened. Due'le quartz 'first one-man live took place at Shibuya On Air West on August 21st and was sold out.

Ultimately, the band stopped their activities in 2002, possibly due to family problems Kikasa. Made famous by the band, Miyabi now calls himself Miyavi and is a successful solo artist. Kikasa played from 2003 to August 2004 at Shelly Trip Realize , however founded Sakito in December 2004 the band [Figure:] to which at times also Kazuki joined as a support drummer after November 2003 to March 2005 in Babylon been active was.
