Kahlholz

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bare wood ( Russian Кальхольц ) (russ since 1947th Losowoje Лозовое ) was most recently a place in the Russian Kaliningrad Oblast (region Königsberg (Prussia) ) and belongs geographically to Pogranitschnoje selskoje posselenije (Town Pogranichny Hermsdorf ) within the Bagrationovsky District (District Eylau ).

Geographical location

The no longer existing Kahlholz settlement is located around 13 kilometers north of the former district town of Heiligenbeil (Mamonovo) . The nearest village Balga is about 3 kilometers away.

Kahlholz was right on the Frischen Haff. The approximately northernmost point of the village marked the "Kahlholzer Haken". Kahlholz was connected to the transport network via a side road. From the neighboring village of Balga the road led directly to Kahlholz and from there via Wolittnick to Bladiau ( Pjatidoroschnoje ). From there there was a connection to the now Russian trunk road A 194 (former German Reichsstrasse 1 , today also Europastrasse 28 ). The nearest train station is that of Wolittnick ( Primorskoje Nowoje ), since 1852 a train station on the Braniewo ( Braunsberg ) - Mamonowo ( Heiligenbeil ) - Kaliningrad ( Königsberg (Prussia) ) route, the former Prussian Eastern Railway .

History

In 1905 257 inhabitants lived here, in 1910 217. The number of inhabitants rose to 240 souls by 1939.

As a result of the Second World War , northern East Prussia and with it the municipality of Kahlholz became part of the Soviet Union in 1945 .

At what point in time the village was completely abandoned, it is not yet entirely clear. Since the village was used as a test site for bombing from the time the Soviet troops marched in, it was in fact already uninhabitable by the end of the war. Nevertheless, Kahlholz was renamed Losowoe in 1947. However, the renaming does not have to be related to the actual habitability of the village. At the beginning of the 1990s, the place no longer existed.

Kahlholz today

Almost nothing is left of the place itself. Only at the southern end of the village in the direction of Balga is a smaller building with other simple adjoining houses. This is probably a not permanently inhabited dwelling for fishermen. This is the only place where the route deviates from the original route.

The former village road still exists as a dirt road along the coast in the original course of the road. Accumulations of stones or, in some cases, cast iron objects at the edges of the path still indicate the remains of the place. Fruit trees between the forest foliage trees are also striking. At the northern entrance of Bladiau towards Balga, a path branches off to the left directly from the riverside path into the forest. After about 100 meters into the forest you come to an area where trees stand in dead straight rows. Within these rows of trees, the forest floor is noticeably level and only covered with leaves and not overgrown in any way. Huge accumulations of bricks are spread around this square. However, there are also remains of everyday objects and cellar walls. Traces of amateur excavations can be seen on the riverside path (October 2012). Lost property, such as B. Oven flaps are unearthed along the way.

The former thoroughfare from Balga in the direction of Bladiau is no longer passable by car, but can still be used on foot and by bike. From Balga, the road is still paved, but quickly turns into a sandy path as soon as you reach the heather-like landscape outside the village.

church

With its majority Protestant population, Kahlholz was integrated into the Balga parish until 1945 . Balga was an old church and belonged to the church district Heiligenbeil (Mamonowo) in the church province of East Prussia of the church of the Old Prussian Union .
