Pogranitschny ( Russian Пограничный , German Hermsdorf, Heiligenbeil district ) is a settlement in the Russian Oblast Kaliningrad in the Bagrationovsk district . The place belongs to the municipal self-government unit of the Bagrationovsk district .

Geographical location

Pogranitschny is two kilometers north of the Polish-Russian border and seven kilometers west of the settlement Kornewo (Zinten) . It is seven kilometers each to the former Reichsautobahn Berlin – Königsberg and today's Russian regional road 27A-003 (ex R516) at the now defunct village of Iwanzowo (German Thierau) and Novosjolowo (Groß Rödersdorf) .

Until 1945 Hermsdorf was a train station on the Reichsbahn line Heiligenbeil - Zinten - Preußisch Eylau , which was then shut down and largely dismantled.

history

Hermsdorf was first mentioned in a document on August 1, 1337. At that time, the Komtur von Balga (after 1945 Russian Wessjoloje , today no longer an independent town), Heinrich von Muro ( Heinrich von der Mauer ), presented the locator Hermann with the hand-held festivals for the newly founded place Hermannsdorf . The later form of the name Hermsdorf is derived from this name . Hermsdorf lived from cattle breeding and agriculture and also a little spinning. There was a church, a jug, a water mill, and a forge. The place also had a school.

In 1910 there were 965 inhabitants in Hermsdorf, their number fell to 814 by 1933 and was still 837 in 1939.

In 1874, the two rural communities Hermsdorf and Stolzenberg and the Lauenfeld estate were formed into the Hermsdorf district. He belonged to the district of Heiligenbeil in the administrative district of Königsberg in the Prussian province of East Prussia . The competent district court was that in Zinten . Due to structural changes at the beginning of the 20th century, three rural communities still belonged to the Hermsdorf district in 1945: Hermsdorf, Schönrade and Stolzenberg.

After 1945, the place now called Pogranitschny was incorporated into the Ladushkin Raion within the Kaliningrad Oblast and the seat of a village soviet. Since 1963 the place has belonged to the Bagrationovsk Rajon and was replaced there as the administrative seat of the unchanged named village soviet of Sovkhoznoye . The rural community of Pogranichnoye selskoye posselenije, which existed from 2008 to 2016, was also administered from Sovkhoznoye. Pogranitschny has been part of the Bagrationovsk district since 2017.

Pogranitschny selski Sowet / okrug 1947–2008

The village soviet Pogranitschny selski Sowet (ru. Пограничный сельский Совет) was established in July 1947 in Ladushkin Rajon . Its administrative seat was initially the Pogranitschny settlement. After the dissolution of Ladushkin Raion at the turn of 1962/1963, the village soviet came to Bagrationovsk Raion . Possibly in this context most of the places of the Novo-Moskovsky selski Sowet , which existed until 1954, and which in the meantime belonged to the Pjatidoroschny selski Sowet, were incorporated into the Pogranitschny selski Sowet, and the administrative seat of the village soviet was relocated to Sovkhoznoye . After the collapse of the Soviet Union , the administrative unit existed as the village district Pogranitschny selski okrug (ru. Пограничный сельский округ). In 2008 the remaining 13 places in the village district were incorporated into the newly formed rural community Pogranichnoje selskoje posselenije.

Memorial stone 600 year celebration

For the 600th anniversary of Hermsdorf in 1937, a memorial stone with a corresponding inscription was placed in the village. A resident of Pogranitschny named Valentin found this stone in the forest after 1945 and set it up again in the village.

museum

It was precisely this resident named Valentin who set up an open-air museum in Pogranitschny , whose exhibits also remind of the German past of the place (steel helmets, rifles, bottles from the Ponarth brewery, etc.). The baptismal fonts of the churches in Bladiau (now Russian: Pjatidoroschnoje) and Zinten (Kornewo) are particularly valuable .
