Kalmykowo ( Russian Калмыково , German Heyde, district Prussian Eylau ) is a place in the Russian Oblast Kaliningrad ( Koenigsberg area (Prussia) ) and belongs to the Niwenskoje selskoje posselenije (rural community Niwenskoje (Wittenberg) ) in the Bagrationowsk district (district of Prussian Eylau ).

Geographical location

Kalmykowo is 22 kilometers northwest of the Rajons capital and former district town of Bagrationovsk (Prussian Eylau) in the area between the rivers Frisching (Russian: prochladnaja) and Pasmar (Maiskaja). The place 1 km west of Pobeda (Arnsberg) can be reached via a side road that connects Niwenskoje (Wittenberg) and Waldimirowo (Tharau) with Slavskoje (Kreuzburg) and Pogranitschnoje (Hussehnen) . There is no train connection.

history

The former Heyde called Vorwerk belonged until 1945 to the municipality of Arnsberg (Russian Today: Pobeda) in the same administrative district in the county Prussian Eylau in the administrative district of Konigsberg the Prussian province of East Prussia .

As a result of the Second World War , Heyde came to the Soviet Union with all of northern East Prussia and in 1950 the place was given the Russian name " Kalmykowo ". Until 2009 the place was incorporated into the Wladimirowski soviet (Dorfsovjet Wladimirowo (Tharau) ) and since then - due to a structural and administrative reform - it has been classified as a “settlement” (Russian: possjolok) in the Niwenskoje selskoje posselenije (rural municipality Niwenskoje (Wittenberg) ) in Bagrationovsk district .

church

Before 1945 the population of Heyde was almost exclusively of Protestant denomination. The place was parish in the parish Kreuzburg (today Russian: Slawskoje) and belonged to the parish of Preußisch Eylau (Bagrationowsk) in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union . The last German clergy were pastors Friedrich Schumacher and Arno Stritzel .

Today Kalmykowo is in the catchment area of the newly founded Evangelical Lutheran village church in Gwardeiskoje (Mühlhausen) . It is a subsidiary of the Church of the Resurrection in Kaliningrad (Koenigsberg) within the Kaliningrad provost of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of European Russia (ELKER).
