Solnetschnoje ( Russian Солнечное , German Thomsdorf, Kreis Preußisch Eylau ) is a place in the Russian Kaliningrad Oblast (region Königsberg (Prussia) ) and belongs to Gvardeyskoye selskoje posselenije (Town Gvardeyskoye (Mulhouse) ) in Bagrationovsky District (Kreis Preußisch Eylau ).

Geographical location

Solnechnoye is located in the northeast of Bagrationovsk Raion and is 23 kilometers from Kaliningrad (Koenigsberg) and 24 kilometers from Bagrationovsk (Prussian Eylau) . A land route that runs west of the Russian trunk road A 196 (former German Reichsstrasse 131 ) branches off in Marijskoje (Weißenstein) and leads via Solnetschnoje to Chekhovo (Uderwangen) . Uderwangen was the next station on the railway line from Königsberg (today Russian: Kaliningrad) to Angerburg (today Polish: Węgorzewo), which has been decommissioned.

The place called Thomsdorf at the time was incorporated into the district of Jesau (Russian: Juschny) in 1874, which in 1930 was renamed "District of Wittenberg " (Niwenskoje). He was in the district of Preußisch Eylau in the administrative district of Königsberg in the Prussian province of East Prussia . In 1910 Thomasdorf had 254 inhabitants.

On April 1, 1937, the Thomsdorf community was reclassified from the Wittenberg district to the Uderwangen (Chekhowo) district. While 282 inhabitants were counted in 1933, the number remained almost constant at 284 in 1939.

In 1945 Thomsdorf came to the Soviet Union with northern East Prussia and in 1947 was named " Solnetschnoje ". Until 2009, the place was incorporated into the Chekhovsky soviet (Dorfsovjet Chekhowo (Uderwangen) ) and since then - due to a structural and administrative reform, it has been classified as a "settlement" (Russian: possjolok) within the Gwardeiskoje selskoje posselenije (rural community Gwardeiskoje ( Mühlhausen) ) in the Bagrationovsk district .
