Marijskoje ( Russian Марийское , German Weißenstein ) is a place in the Russian Oblast Kaliningrad and belongs to the rural community Gwardeiskoje in the Bagrationovsk district .

Geographical location

Marijskoje is located in the northeast of Bagrationovsk Raion , 21 kilometers southeast of Kaliningrad (Königsberg (Prussia) ) and 27 kilometers northeast of Bagrationovsk . The Russian trunk road A 196 (former German Reichsstrasse 131 ), which connects Kaliningrad with Prawdinsk (Friedland (East Prussia)) and Krylowo (Nordenburg) , runs through the village . Until 1945, Uderwangen (Russian: Chekhovo) was the next train station on the route from Königsberg to Angerburg (now Polish: Węgorzewo), which is no longer in operation.

history

The manor district and the rural community of Weißenstein belonged to the district of Königsberg until 1945 (from 1939 district of Samland ) in the administrative district of Königsberg in the Prussian province of East Prussia . In 1874 both were incorporated into the newly formed Friedrichstein District (Russian: Kamenka). Weißenstein had 282 inhabitants in 1910, of whom 172 lived in the manor district and 110 in the rural community.

On September 30, 1928, the manor district and the rural community of Weißenstein merged to form the new rural community of Weißenstein. In 1930 she came to the Borchersdorf district (today in Russian: Selenopolje) and remained there until 1945. In 1933, Weißenstein (with the Vorwerk Blaustein) had 339 inhabitants, in 1939 342 inhabitants.

As a result of the Second World War , Weißenstein came to the Soviet Union with northern East Prussia and in 1947 received the name "Marijskoje" after the origin of the new settlers from the Mari ASSR . At the same time the place became the seat of a village soviet. Initially the place should belong to the Guryevsk Rajon , but was assigned to the Kaliningrad Rajon in July 1947 . Since 1950 Marijskoje belonged to the village soviet Chekhovsky , who later came to Bagrationovsk district . Since 2008 Marijskoje belongs to the rural municipality Gwardeiskoje .
