The R516 ( Russian Р516 ; the Cyrillic Р corresponds to the Latin R ) is a Russian regional road that runs in a north-east-south-west direction within the Kaliningrad Oblast .
The road connects Lesnoje ( Лесное ) - two kilometers south of the city limits of Kaliningrad ( Koenigsberg, Prussia ) on the A 195 highway - with the Russian- Polish border at the Grzechotki - Mamonowo -II crossing (formerly Place names according to Rehfeld and Heiligenbeil ). The R516 runs on the route of the planned and before 1945 partially expanded Reichsautobahn Berlin – Königsberg . On the Polish side, it continues as the S 22 expressway . The border crossing point was opened on December 7, 2010. Up to 26,000 passenger vehicles, 1,250 trucks and 150 buses should be able to cross the border every day.
