Kai Rosenkranz (born July 28, 1980 in Bochum ) is a German game developer , composer and sound designer .

He composed a. a. the music for the computer game series Gothic and Risen . He also operates the KaiRosenkranzMusic YouTube channel with around 6,200 subscribers.

Career

In 1998, when he was still at school and before graduating from high school in the following year, he started working for the game developer Piranha Bytes . There he was the main composer, sound designer, visual effects artist, tool developer and community manager for all Gothic games and the first part of Risen . For his work on Gothic 3 , he was awarded the German Developer Prize 2006 twice in the categories “Best Sound” and “Best Community Support”.

Parallel to his work at Piranha Bytes, he studied media informatics at the Gelsenkirchen University of Applied Sciences from 2004 to 2007 .

In 2009 he founded Nevigo GmbH in Bochum, where he was active as managing director and in charge of the conception of the articy: draft development tool until its insolvency in 2014. In 2014 he started a successful crowdfunding campaign to finance his album Journey Home . This led to the fact that he was hired by Andreas Suika to compose the game The Long Journey Home . In 2016 he left Nevigo and concentrated again exclusively on his composition work.
