Kai Sammet

Kai Sammet (* 1960 in Marbach am Neckar ) is a German doctor and medical historian . Sammet's work focuses on the history of psychiatry in the 19th and 20th centuries.

Life

Sammet studied medicine at the universities in Göttingen and Hamburg . He did his doctorate with a thesis on Wilhelm Griesinger . Since 1998, Sammet has been a research assistant at the Institute for the History and Ethics of Medicine at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf , formerly the Institute for the History of Medicine . Previously, he worked as an assistant doctor in forensic psychiatry . Between 2000 and 2003, Sammet was acting head of the institute at the Hamburg University Hospital . In the second decade of the 21st century he was one of the Deputy Heads of the Institute.

Editing

Together with Ursula Weisser, Sammet was one of the editors of the series Hamburg Studies on the History of Medicine .
