Ursula Weisser
Ursula Weisser (born January 12, 1948 in Schwäbisch Hall ) is a German medical historian . Her research is particularly dedicated to the medicine of the Arab-Islamic Middle Ages . Ursula Weisser also presented publications on medicine in Hamburg .
Life
From 1967 to 1974 Ursula Weisser studied the history of natural sciences , Islamic studies , oriental philology and Indo-European linguistics at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main . From 1969 to 1972 she was a research assistant at the Institute for the History of Natural Sciences in the research project History of Arabic Literature , which was headed by Fuat Sezgin . From 1972 to 1974 Ursula Weisser received a graduate scholarship from the German Research Foundation (DFG) . In 1974 herDoctorate to Dr. phil. nat.
From 1975 to 1981 Ursula Weisser worked as a research assistant at the Institute for the History of Medicine at the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg . 1981 habilitated it for the History of Medicine with a record of conviction ideas in medicine of the Arab-Islamic Middle Ages. Ursula Weisser was appointed Academic Senior Councilor at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität , and she was acting head of the Institute for the History of Medicine there in the winter semester 1981/82. From 1981 to 1984 she took over the lectureship during the vacancy of the Erlangen chair for the history of medicine. From 1982 to 1984 Ursula Weisser was a fellow of the Heisenberg Program of the DFG.
Between 1984 and 1987 she worked as a private lecturer at the Medical History Institute of Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz .
In 1987 Ursula Weisser took up the post of director of the Institute for the History of Medicine at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf . She held this position until her retirement in 2000.
Editing
Ursula Weisser was co-editor of the series Hamburg Studies on the History of Medicine.
