The Kaiser-Friedrich-tower Vallendar is an observation tower in steel framework construction on the Mallendarer mountain at Vallendar . It received its name in memory of the German Emperor Friedrich III. who died in 1888 after a term of only 99 days.

history

The 25 meter high tower was commissioned by the Vallendar Transport and Improvement Association at the end of the 19th century and designed and built by the Hilgers company from Rheinbrohl . The inauguration took place on May 11, 1899. In 1982 the tower was closed due to dilapidation. A thorough renovation was carried out in 1988/1989 at a cost of 134,200 DM. On October 21, 1988, the observation tower was officially listed as a cultural monument worth preserving , and it is also on the list of monuments of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate .

Monument protection

The Kaiser-Friedrich-Turm is a protected cultural monument according to the Monument Protection Act (DSchG) and entered in the list of monuments of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate . It is in Vallendar in the Kaiser-Friedrich-Höhe .
