Building description

The two-storey house on Vohwinkeler Hauptstrasse, Kaiserstrasse, which is also classified as Bundesstrasse 228 , stands in the obtuse angle to the confluence of Schillerstrasse on a slight hill. Together with the eastern building, the house at Schillerstraße 1 , it is part of the historical buildings of the former Grotenbeck court and is one of the oldest structures in Vohwinkel. The Lower Monument Authority estimates the construction period to be the end of the 18th to the beginning of the 19th century.

Today the house is accessed from the rear eaves side . The western gable wall is slated in the area of the upper floor and the attic. On the eaves side, the front side facing the street, there is a central gable . The two sides of the gable roof have a different slope. The right side is protected from view by tall trees in the area of the front garden. On the left side of the front yard is a small shop fitting. Another entrance is on the east side of the building, which may have been the main entrance to the building in the past. The house at Schillerstraße 1 is on the eastern gable end.

Despite negative changes from the point of view of the monument authority, the rear and side paneling of the building was entered as a monument in the list of monuments of the city of Wuppertal on January 29, 1985 .
