Kaizers Orchestra was a Norwegian rock band formed in early 2000 . Its two founders, singer Janove Ottesen and guitarist Geir Zahl, founded their first band (Blod, Snått & Juling) together in 1991.
history
The first album, Ompa til du dør (Humppa till you die), was released by the Broiler Farm underground label in 2001. It was a huge success, first in Norway, then later in Denmark and the Netherlands. The second album, Evig Pint , came out in late 2002 / early 2003. The third album, Maestro , was released in mid-August 2005 in Norway and the rest of Europe. With the fourth album Maskineri , which was released in 2008, the band remained true to their style despite a change of producer.
In 2009 Kaizers Orchestra released the album Våre Demoner , which was only available as a "Limited Edition" in Scandinavian stores for one week and was then only sold as a download.
In 2011 and 2012 the band released their almost musical-like Violeta trilogy and announced their breakup after a farewell tour in 2013.
style
The music of Kaizers Orchestra was inspired by Tom Waits music, Eastern European Sinti and Roma music, punk rock and March / Humppa music (Ompa in Norwegian). The texts by Ottesen and Zahl were generally written in Norwegian .
