Kajetan Georg von Kaiser

Kajetan Georg von Kaiser (born January 5, 1803 in Kelheim , † August 28, 1871 in Munich ) was a German chemist.

Life

Kajetan von Kaiser studied chemistry at the University of Landshut . In 1821 he became a member of the Corps Bavaria Landshut , and his direct co-workers included Rector Moy de Sons and General Theodor Basselet de la Rosee . He completed his studies with a doctorate. phil. from. In 1851 he was appointed professor of technology at the Ludwig Maximilians University. In 1868 he accepted a position as professor for applied chemistry at the Technical University of Munich .

His research in the field of fermentation , which he published in scientific journals, was fundamental. In 1842 he developed a saccharometer to determine the original wort content . His lectures on brewing were published in 1930 by Josef Wild under the title Brewing Science 85 Years Ago.

The scientific work of his friend, the chemist and mineralogist Johann Nepomuk von Fuchs , who died in 1856 , was published in the year of his death, including an obituary under the title Gesammelte Schriften des Joh. Nep. from fox . In 1857 Kaiser was elected a member of the Leopoldina .
