Karin Hildur "Kajsa" Ollongren (born May 28, 1967 in Leiden ) is a Dutch politician of the D66 . Since October 2017 she has been Minister of the Interior and Kingdom Relations and Deputy Prime Minister in the Rutte III cabinet .

Life

Ollongren is the daughter of the Dutch computer scientist and astronomer Alexander Ollongren. Because of her Swedish mother, she has both Dutch and Swedish citizenship. She grew up in Oegstgeest and attended the Rijnlands Lyceum there from 1979 to 1985. From 1985 to 1991 she studied economics and history at the University of Amsterdam and then completed the training administration publique (public administration) at the École nationale d'administration in Paris and the course in foreign relations at the Clingersael Institute in The Hague .

Public offices

After completing his studies, Ollongren worked in the Ministry of Economics from 1992 to 2007, first as a clerk for Central and Eastern Europe and later as head of parliamentary affairs. In 2001 she became Head of the Directorate for European Integration and in 2004 Deputy Head of the Directorate General. Ollongren increased in 2006 as a candidate for the left-liberal party D66 at the general election in part. In 2007 she moved to the Ministry of General Affairs as Secretary General.

Local politics

In 2014, Ollongren became Associate and Deputy Mayor of Amsterdam . As such, she was responsible for the areas of economy, airport / seaport, monument protection, art and culture, local media, communal investments and the Amsterdam-Centrum district .

Minister of the Interior and Kingdom Relations

On October 26, 2017, Ollongren was appointed Minister of the Interior and Kingdom Relations and Deputy Prime Minister in the Rutte Third Cabinet.

Private

Ollongren is married and has two children. She lives in Amsterdam.
