Cacodyl or tetramethyldiarsane, As ₂ (CH ₃ ) ₄ , formerly also known as “Cadet's liquid”, is a highly poisonous liquid that smells of feces and which ignites by itself in the air.

Kakodyl is one of the organometallic compounds .

It is formed when arsenic acid is distilled with potassium acetate .

The first depiction of the cacodyl was in 1760 by Louis Claude Cadet de Gassicourt . At the same time, Cadet had unwittingly synthesized the first organometallic compound. Cacodyl and cacodyl compounds [with As (CH ₃ ) ₂ group] were systematically investigated by Robert Bunsen in 1836 .
