As far as possible and customary, SI units are used. Unless otherwise noted, the data given apply to standard conditions .

Cacodyl or tetramethyldiarsane, As 2 (CH 3 ) 4 , formerly also known as “Cadet's liquid”, is a highly poisonous liquid that smells of feces and which ignites by itself in the air.

Kakodyl is one of the organometallic compounds .

It is formed when arsenic acid is distilled with potassium acetate .

The first depiction of the cacodyl was in 1760 by Louis Claude Cadet de Gassicourt . At the same time, Cadet had unwittingly synthesized the first organometallic compound. Cacodyl and cacodyl compounds [with As (CH 3 ) 2 group] were systematically investigated by Robert Bunsen in 1836 .

  2. Not explicitly listed in Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 (CLP) , but with the specified labeling it falls under the group entry arsenic compounds, with the exception of those named in this appendix in the Classification and Labeling Inventory of the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) on February 1, 2016. Manufacturers or distributors can expand the harmonized classification and labeling .
