The Kalanka is a 6931 m high mountain in the Himalayas in Uttarakhand ( India ).
The mountain forms the eastern higher neighbor of Changabang in the eastern Garhwal Himalayas . It is located in the Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve . A mountain ridge leads northeast over the 6,911 m high Saf Minal to the 6,992 m high Rishi Pahar . The seven-thousander Dunagiri is located west of the Kalanka at a distance of 7.4 km.
The Kalanka was first climbed on June 3, 1975 by a Japanese mountaineering group (Ikuo Tanabe, Noriaki Ikeda, Tsuneo Kouma, Kazumasa Inoue and Porter T. Singh). The route led over Shipton's Col, south face and west ridge to the summit.
