The Kalbsaugenteich , also Kalbesauger Teich , was a reservoir in the Lower Harz near Neudorf in the Harz district of Saxony-Anhalt . The pond between the Langenberg and the Hankelsköpf in the upper valley of the Birnbaumbach was part of the Lower Harz pond and ditch system .

history

Mining in the Birnbaumer Revier was resumed in 1740. This required additional water, for which the Anhalter Princes acquired the water usage rights for the Silberhütte artificial moat from the Stolberg counts.

The water was supplied via the Anhaltische Graben , built between 1761 and 1762 , which branched off from the Schindelbrücher Kunstgraben above the Faulen Pfützenteich and was laid out in such a way that water was initially supplied to the upper reaches of the Schmalen Wipper and thus to the border pond . The veal eye pond was built in 1779. He first served as a backing store for the Birnbaumteich to stabilize the water supply in Birnbaumer station. However , the pond in the headwaters of the Birnbaumbach had such a small catchment area that the pond was dependent on additional water. This was achieved by extending the Anhaltische Graben, which now also supplied additional water to the Kalbsaugenteich.

In 1817 the Neue Graben was built, which connected the Kalbsaugenteich with the Neudorfer Graben and thus the Neudorfer community pond . Now the Kalbsaugenteich served as an artificial pond to supply the Neudorfer Radkünste with impact water .

In 1890 the dam broke and was not rebuilt.
