Kalenda Maya is a Norwegian medieval band . They play contemporary musical instruments that they make themselves based on original drawings and templates. Among other things, the group interprets the titles of Cantigas de Santa Maria , Llibre Vermell de Montserrat , German minnesang ( Neidhart Mayenzeit one neidt ), French trobadors and classical dances such as the salarello . For their debut album Kalenda Maya - Medieval and Renaissance Music they received the Norwegian music award Spellemannprisen in 1985 .
