Kalevi Holsti

Kalevi "Kal" Jaakko Holsti (* 1935 in Geneva ) is a Canadian political scientist of Finnish origin.

Life

Holsti was born in Geneva in 1935 and was a Finnish citizen until 1956 . His older brother Ole (1933-2020) was also born there. Her father was the Finnish Foreign Minister Rudolf Holsti (1881–1945). Kalevi Holsti did his Ph.D. at Stanford University . Since 1962 he has worked at the University of British Columbia in Canada. In 1983 he was elected a member of the Royal Society of Canada . In 2005 he was appointed a member of the Finnish Academy of Sciences .

He is University Killam Professor Emeritus at the University of British Columbia. Holsti works there in the "Liu Institute for Global Issues".
