The Kalkfarbene gelatinous crust ( Exidiopsis calcea ), also Kalkfarbene wax crust called, is a fungal art from the family of the ear flap mushroom relatives.
features
Macroscopic features
The lime-colored gelatinous crust forms resupinate , very thin, white to gray-white fruiting bodies that are dry and floury to the touch. They often flow into one another and become 2–10 centimeters long and 2–5 centimeters wide.
Microscopic features
The spores are cylindrical to bean-shaped (allantoid) and are 12.5–16 × 5–6 micrometers in size. They are smooth, hyaline and inamyloid , which means they cannot be stained with iodine . The hyphae have a buckle .
Species delimitation
The lime-colored gelatinous crust can be confused with many other resupinate gelatinous mushrooms. The rare Stypella dubia , for example, looks very similar , which is distinguished by numerous thick-walled cystids in the fruit layer . These appear as fine hairy under a magnifying glass.
ecology
The lime-colored gelatinous crust lives saprobically on the branches and bark of the spruce . It is quite rare, but mainly occurs in the mountains, where it is sometimes more common.
Systematics
The earth-wax crust was first described by Persoon as Thelephora calcea in 1801 . Kenneth Wells changed the name to its current name in 1962.
