Cao Shuo ( Chinese  曹 碩  /  曹 硕 , Pinyin Cáo Shuò; born October 8, 1991 in Baoding ) is a Chinese triple jumper .

Athletic career

Cao Shuo gained his first international experience at the Junior Asian Championships 2010 in Hanoi , where he won the gold medal with a wind-assisted 16.84 m. He then took part in the Asian Games in Guangzhou , where he won the bronze medal with a jump of 16.84 m behind his compatriot Li Yanxi and Yevgeny Ektow from Kazakhstan. In 2012 he won silver at the Asian Indoor Championships in Hangzhou with a Chinese national record of 17.01 m behind his compatriot Dong Bin, who was equally wide . He qualified for the Olympic Games in London , where he was eliminated with 16.27 m in qualification . In 2013 he won the Asian Championships in Pune with 16.77 m and won silver at the East Asian Games in Tianjin . The following year he was seventh at the World Indoor Championships in Sopot with 16.55 m , fifth at the Athletics Continental Cup in Marrakech and won the Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea with 17.30 m.

In 2015 he won the silver medal behind the South Korean Kim Deok-hyeon at the Asian Championships in Wuhan with 16.77 m and thus qualified for the first time for the World Championships in Beijing , where he was eliminated with 16.66 m in the qualification . In 2016 he finished fifth at the Asian Indoor Championships in Doha with 15.76 m and fourth place at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where he reached 17.13 m in the final . After not taking part in any international championships in 2017, he won the bronze medal at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta with 16.56 m behind the Indian Arpinder Singh and Ruslan Kurbanov from Uzbekistan.

In 2009 and 2012, Cao was Chinese triple jump champion.
