Ruslan Kurbanov ( Russian Руслан Курбанов , Ruslan Kurbanow ; born February 10, 1993 in Samarqand ) is an Uzbek triple jumper .

Athletic career

Ruslan Kurbanov gained his first international experience at the Asian Youth Games in Singapore in 2009 , where he won the bronze medal with 14.59 m. He then finished eighth with 15.32 m at the Indoor Asian Games in Hanoi and was ninth at the Asian Championships in Guangzhou with 15.49 m. In 2010 he took part in the first ever Youth Olympic Games in Singapore and came in sixth there with 15.48 m. Previously, he was at the Junior Asian Championships in Hanoi with 15.31 m seventh. In 2011 he qualified for the first time for the Asian Championships in Kobeand took tenth place there with a width of 15.51 m. The following year he retired at the Junior World Championships in Barcelona with 15.47 m in qualification. In 2014 he won the bronze medal at the Asian Indoor Championships in Hangzhou with 16.00 m behind the Chinese Fu Haitao and Roman Walijew from Kazakhstan. At the end of October, the first participation in the Asian Games in Incheon , South Korea , took place , where he finished seventh with 16.25 m.

In 2015 he finished eleventh at the Asian Championships in Wuhan with 15.70 m and at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro he was eliminated without a valid jump in qualification . In 2017 he finished seventh at the Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat with a jump of 15.48 m. In 2018 he again took part in the Asian Games in Jakarta and won the silver medal behind the Indian Arpinder Singh with 16.62 m . At the beginning of September he finished sixth at the Athletics Continental Cup in Ostrava with 16.34 m. The following year he won the Asian Championships in Doha with a new personal best of 16.93 m and thus received a bye for the World Championships there in October, where he was eliminated in qualifying with a width of 15.86 m .

In 2014 and 2016, Kurbanov became the Uzbek master in the outdoor triple jump and in 2017 and 2018 in the hall.
