Arpinder Singh (born December 30, 1992 in Harsha Chhina , Punjab ) is an Indian triple jumper . He held the Indian record in the triple jump between 2014 and 2016.

Career

Arpinder Singh gained his first international experience at the 2009 Youth World Championships in Brixen , where he was eliminated from the qualification with 14.20 m. In 2010 he won the silver medal behind the Chinese Cao Shuo at the Junior Asian Championships in Hanoi with 16.13 m . He then took part in the Junior World Championships in Moncton , Canada , where he was eliminated with 15.31 m in qualification. In 2013 he qualified for the Asian Championships in the Indian city of Pune , where he won the bronze medal with 16.58 m. On June 8, 2014, he set his personal record of 17.17 meters in Lucknow . With this distance he set the Indian record at that time. On July 11, 2016, Renjith Maheswary took the Indian record from him again. In the same year he was nominated for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow , where he won the bronze medal with 16.53 m. He then finished fifth at the Asian Games in Incheon with 16.41 m.

In Calcutta , he secured his second Indian championship title on September 19, 2015 with a width of 16.36 meters. In 2017 he was nominated for the Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games and on September 20 he won the gold medal with a width of 16.21 meters ahead of Pratchaya Tepparak from Thailand and Rashid al-Mannai from Qatar. With this distance he sets up his best performance in the hall. Previously, he won another medal at the Asian Championships in Bhubaneswar with 16.33 m and was fourth there. In 2018 he was nominated for the Commonwealth Games 2018 in the Australian Gold Coast , where he took fourth place with a width of 16.46 m. At the end of August he took part again in the Asian Games in Jakarta and won there with a width of 16.77 m. He then came third at the Athletics Continental Cup in Ostrava with 16.59 m.

In 2013, 2015 and 2018 Singh became Indian triple jump champion.
