Karl-Robin "Kalle" Sauerland (born April 14, 1977 in Wuppertal ) is a German boxing promoter .

Life

Sauerland was born the son of boxing promoter Wilfried Sauerland and a Swede . He also has a brother named Nisse who is also a sports promoter. In 1979 Sauerland's mother moved with the children to London. After three years in London, the family went to Gstaad , Switzerland , where he attended an American school. When Sauerland was ten years old, they moved back to London. According to the father, the brothers Kalle and Nisse came into contact with boxing as children, as athletes from his boxing stable often took care of his sons. Kalle Sauerland studied business administration and marketing in London and initially worked for the sports rights agency International Management Group . Initially, he worked in the field of soccer and was responsible for the Brazilian national soccer team , among other things . From 2008 Sauerland was the head of the Hamburg- based German branch of the Kentaro marketing company.

Sauerland also pursued boxing himself and later joined his father's company, Sauerland Event , a Berlin-based boxing stable and as of 2014 the largest German boxing organizer, as a junior boss. He rebuilt the company, made it more international and media-oriented. As a co-promoter of David Haye , he played a decisive role in bringing about the world championship match between Haye and Wladimir Klitschko in July 2011 after the two-year negotiations between the two camps failed to lead to the conclusion of a contract.

In 2009 Sauerland launched the Super Six boxing series with the best super middleweights in the world thanks to suggestions from his wife . For this competition format he won the US television station Showtime . Later on, Super Six tournaments were also held in other weight classes. Sauerland became head of the boxing business at the Switzerland- based company Comosa AG, which organizes the tournaments. In 2014 he landed a new television partner for the Sauerland boxing stable with the broadcaster Sat.1 , after the ARD no longer extended the contract with Sauerland. In April 2016, he and the Modern Times Group launched their own boxing channel, Viaplay Fighting, in Scandinavia .

In September 2008 Sauerland married Nathalie Aschpurwis, who came from a shipowner's family in Hamburg . The couple has two sons and lives in Hamburg and London. Sauerland is a supporter of the Tottenham Hotspur soccer team .
