Kamenica ( Serbian Cyrillic : Каменица) is a village in western Serbia . The village is also often called Valjevska Kamenica , this refers to the nearby town of Valjevo , as there are several places in Serbia with the name Kamenica .
Geography and population
The village is located in Opština Valjevo , in Okrug Kolubara in western Podgorina , a historical region. Kamenica had 868 inhabitants at the 2011 census, compared to 1009 inhabitants in 2002. According to the last three population statistics, the number of inhabitants continues to fall.
The population is made up of Serbs . Kamenica consists of 363 households. The village lies by the Kamenica brook, and there is also a small lake in the village area , the Kameničko Jezero . The village is on a railroad track.

Opština Kamenica
Until 1965, this village was the seat of Opština Kamenica. This municipality consisted of the villages: Beomužević, Bobova, Gornja Bukovica, Kamenica , Majinović, Miličinica, Oglađenovac , Osladić, Pričević, Sitarice, Stanina Reka, Stapar, Suvodanje, Tupanci, Vlaščić and Vragočanica. With the dissolution of the municipality, the entire area, the former municipality of Kamenica , became part of the municipality of Valjevo .
