Oglađenovac ( Serbian Cyrillic : Оглађеновац) is a village in western Serbia .

geography

Oglađenovac is located on both banks of the Ub River . In contrast to many villages in the area, the village is hardly on the hills or slopes of the surrounding mountains, but in the river valley, around the smaller village streams, village rivers and the Ub.

The limestone-rich land around the village is hilly and the foothills of the Vlašić and Jautina mountains reach to the village. The foothills are of medium height and consist of steep and wooded hilly landscapes. One of the foothills is called Brazda on which one of the four hamlets is located, this slope separates the Kamenica and Oglađenovačka Reka rivers .

The place is rich in streams and springs, especially the central and northern part of the village area. Many of the small streams dry up in summer. The main springs and streams are: Stublina, Izvorac, Česma, Aškovića Bunar and Jankovića Bunar.

There is also a mineral water spring in the village, which is said to have healing effects on the skin, gall bladder and bone pain, but tourist or economic use of the spring is only in the early stages. Oglađenovac is one of the few places in Serbia that has a mineral water source.

The small streams often flow near the river Ub, which , coming from the neighboring village of Miličinica , flows through the village to the north. Other larger rivers are the Oglađenovačka Reka , which rises below the Divljan Mountains near the village of Gornja Bukovica and flows into the Ub in this village. And the Jaućanski Potok , which flows through the village hamlet Erakovići and flows into the Oglađenovačka Reka. The Kamenica river also continues to flow near the village.

Areas in the village that are well suited for agriculture and livestock are around the houses and around the rivers of the Ub and Oglađenovačka Reka, where the best village pastures are also found. On the slopes of the foothills of the Vlašić there are also village pastures and meadows, while the foothills of the Jautina are forested. The dry, flat earth in the place is not very productive, only after several orders, there is an adequate harvest. Many types of fruit thrive in the village and viticulture can also be practiced well.

But the greatest resource in the village is wood. Over 50% of the village area is forested. Above all, deciduous trees grow in the place. The residents sell the wood and use it for their own needs.

Oglađenovac is a scattered settlement type , consisting today of four hamlets . The village of Vlaščić , which is now an independent village , used to belong to the village as the fifth hamlet. Vlaščić lies on the left bank of the Ub river.

The hamlets are scattered around the springs and streams, closer and farther apart, depending on their location. The four hamlets are on the right bank of the Ub river in the foothills of the Jautina. The hamlets are called: Erakovići , Bražđani , Dubljani and Keseri .

The village is located in Opština Valjevo , in Okrug Kolubara in western central Serbia in western Podgorina , a historical region. Oglađenovac is located about 30 km northwest of the municipal capital Valjevo.

history

The village of Oglađenovac is an old village. The old name of the village is Glaćinovac. From the archives of the Valjevo Eparchy it can be seen that there were 20 houses in the village in 1735. The now independent village Vlaščić is considered the oldest part of the village Oglađenovac.

Village name

According to popular legend, the village got its current name when a major plague outbreak struck the village over 300 years ago and almost all of the village's inhabitants died.

The village was then starved or exterminated, which is the approximate translation of the name Oglađenovac. Initially the village was called Oglađen and over time the name was changed to today's Oglađenovac.

Names of the hamlets

The four hamlets of today derive their names from the locality where they are and some old families who still live in the village today.

The hamlet of Bražđani derives its name from the Brazda slope on the slopes of which it is located, framed by small streams.

The hamlet Dubljani derives its name from the field Dubljem on which it stands, the field is considered the most beautiful and widest field in the place and lies below the Divljan Mountains and the Bukovački Visovi .

The hamlets Erakovići and Keseri derive their names from the family names Eraković and Keser .

In 2002 a small sports stadium was opened in the village and placed under the administration of the Serbian Orthodox Church. The football club plays in the home league of the city of Valjevo.

Tucijada

In the early 20th century was held in both mineral water spring at Easter an annual competition in eggs from hitting. What stopped after the Second World War .

Every year since 1997 the parish has organized the event it baptized Tucijada. First the Holy Liturgy is celebrated in the Church. Then the believers celebrate Easter at home. In the afternoon they meet in front of the church where the event disciplines are performed. In addition to Easter egg beating, there are also other disciplines such as tug of war, egg running and the beautifully painted Easter egg and a rich cultural program.
