Kamran Diba
Kamran Diba (born March 5, 1937 in Tehran ) is one of the most internationally renowned Iranian architects and urban planners. He also emerged as a painter in the 1960s and is one of the leading artists of the modern Tehran school .
In his buildings he combines classic Islamic architectural elements with modern room concepts.
Career
From 1958–64 Diba studied architecture and sociology at Howard University ( Washington, DC ). After his return to Tehran in 1966, he worked there as a freelance architect.
In 1968 he founded the leading Iranian architecture firm DAZ ( Aga Khan Award for Architecture 1986) together with Amir Rezvani , Farzin Sadeghi , D. Zayam , K. Farnoush , A. Vakili , Ahmed Kashanijo and Parviz Rezagholizadeh .
1976-77 he was director of the MMA Tehran and lecturer at the University of Tehran .
He moved to Paris and Washington, DC in 1977 and was a lecturer at Cornell University ( Ithaca, NY ).
