life and career

Kane Kosugi has both Japanese and Chinese roots. His father is Shō Kosugi , who became known as an actor in various ninja films in the 1980s . His nickname is therefore also "Son of the Dragon" (son of the dragon). At the age of one and a half, he began martial arts training under the guidance of his father. Like his father, Kane Kosugi also trained some martial arts , including Judo , Karate , Kendo , Ninjutsu , Tae Kwon Do and Wu Shu . As a child, he won 176 trophies in various sports. His father had him appear in a number of films as a young actor, for example in The Return of the Ninja at the age of eight, in 1984 in the television series The Ninja Master and in 1988 alongside Jean-Claude Van Damme in Red Eagle . His younger brother Shane Kosugi also starred in many of these films .

After Kosugi graduated from high school , he and his family moved to Japan. His father encouraged him further by having him appear in two films he directed. Kosugi then appeared in the television series Ninja sentai Kakurenjâ . He then began a career in Japanese television, where he appeared in various shows and also shot a number of commercials. Jackie Chan is one of his sponsors , who made him take part in the 1997 production of Jackie Chan's Nobody . Kosugi had a cameo there and learned quite a bit about filmmaking as such.

In 2002, Kosugi took on the lead role in the action film Muscle Heat , which finally made him a star in Japan. He then had roles in Godzilla: Final Wars (2004), DOA - Dead or Alive (2006), War (2007) with Jet Li and Jason Statham, and Ninja - Path of Vengeance (2013).

Private life

Kosugi had a long relationship with professional golfer Riko Higashio , who later married actor Ishida Junichi . Kosugi has been married to a woman from Hong Kong since 2009. He and his father Shō Kosugi have been falling out for a long time. Kosugi had envisaged him as his successor in the Sho Kosugi Institute, a school for drama and martial arts, which Kane Kosugi rejected because of his film career.

Kosugi is involved in the Make-A-Wish Foundation and in the Paralympics .
