The Kani Rock ( Japanese か に 岩 Kani-iwa , German 'Krabbenfelsen' ; Norwegian Krabba 'Krabbe' ) is a rocky outcrop on the Crown Prince Olav Coast in Queen Maud Land in East Antarctica . It rises between the Umeboshi Rock and the Chijire Rocks .
Aerial photographs and measurements of a Japanese Antarctic expedition that lasted from 1957 to 1962 were used to map it. Japanese scientists also used the name in 1963, which the US Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names gave in 1968 in a partial translation into English.
