Kanja Sanneh

Kanja Sanneh BAS (* 1958 ) was Minister of Agriculture ( Secretary of State for Agriculture ) of the West African country Gambia .

Sanneh earned a BA in Agriculture and Urban Sociology from the University of Missouri Columbia in 1982 . Before that, in 1980 he had a diploma in urban development and a certificate in urban planning. He received his master's degree in sociology in 1993 from the University of Central Missouri Warrensburg . At the University of Kansas in Kansas City followed in 1999 the Master of Public Health (social medicine) and 2005 at the University of Central Missouri the Master of Science in agricultural engineering .

From 1976 to 1979 Sanneh worked in the service of the government, also from 1983 to 1986. Then he worked for UNICEF in Uganda until 1987 , followed by a position for CARE International until 1988. Sanneh then continued to work for UNICEF Uganda active until 1992. From 1997 to 1998 he worked for Brown Mackie College . From September 2000 to May 2001, worked for the organization Doctors Without Borders in Nairobi and then until the end of 2001 for the Johnson County Community College . From 2002 he worked as a consultant for the World Health Organization in their office in Gambia.

In October 2006, Sanneh was appointed Minister of Agriculture by President Jammeh . He was removed from his post on March 19, 2008. Since then, the cabinet has not had a minister of agriculture and the Department of State for Agriculture (DoSA) has been subordinated to the Department of State for Fisheries, Water Resources .
