Kantishna is a small town in the Denali Borough of Alaska with no administration of its own . It is located at the foot of the Kantishna Hills in Denali National Park at the end of the National Park Road, 3 miles northwest of Wonder Lake .
Kantishna was founded in 1905 as a gold digger camp at the confluence of the gold-bearing brooks Eureka Creek and Moose Creek . Initially the settlement was known as Eureka . However, the Board on Geographic Names set the current name as the official name in 1944 based on the Kantishna Post Office opened in 1905 .
