The canton of Huancané is an administrative district in the La Paz department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
The canton of Huancané is one of seven cantons of the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Municipio Batallas in the province of Los Andes and is located in the central western part of the district. It borders in the north on the municipality Huarina , in the northwest on Lake Titicaca , in the west on the municipality Puerto Pérez , in the south and southeast on the canton Batallas , and in the northeast on the canton Karhuisa .
The canton extends between 16 ° 15 'and 16 ° 19' south latitude and 68 ° 33 'and 68 ° 35' 30 "west latitude, it measures up to seven kilometers from north to south and up to four kilometers from west to east The canton consists of four localities ( localidades ), the central place is Huancané with 374 inhabitants ( 2012 ) in the northern part of the canton.

The canton of Huancané is located on the Bolivian Altiplano between the Andes mountain ranges of the Cordillera Occidental in the west and the Cordillera Central in the east. The region has a distinctive time-of-day climate in which the mean temperature fluctuations during the day are more pronounced than during the year.
