The pulpit is a multi-peaked mountain in the Bavarian Forest National Park south of the Lusen and the Hohlstein . The area around the pulpit is primarily referred to as the “rock hiking area”, which is criss-crossed by numerous hiking trails that repeatedly lead past rock formations. However, only the Kleine Kanzel (1,011 m) a little further west forms a real peak . A stately summit cross with a modest view to the south stands on its striking boulder . The closest village and a good starting point for an ascent is Mauth .
The mountain is designated as a geotope (272R013) by the Bavarian State Office for the Environment.
