Kaouar Valley
The Kaouar (also: Kawar Valley ) is a valley in the Ténéré - desert in West Africa Niger . The Kaouar Valley runs in a north-south direction and is about 160 kilometers long.
In the Kaouar, up to 100 meters deep, there are the oasis places Séguédine ( salt production ), Anney , Dirkou and Bilma (salt production) , from north to south . In the south, towards Lake Chad , the Kaouar Valley is closed off by the great sandy desert of Bilma with around 300 transverse dunes . From Séguédine in the north, sandy slopes go in a north-easterly direction via Madama, through the Djado plateau , to Libya and in a north-westerly direction to the medieval ruined city of Djado, about 140 km away, and the nearby Chirfa . Enneri Blaka, known for its prehistoric rock carvings, lies in the northern extension of the Kaour Valley .
