The Cape Cesney is a wide and icy cape , which the west side of the entrance to Davis Bay on the Clarie Coast of the East Antarctic Wilkes Land marked.
His position was recorded using aerial photographs taken by the United States Navy during Operation Highjump (1946–1947). The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1955 after AM Cesney, Master's Mate on the USS Flying Fish in the United States Exploring Expedition (1838-1842) under the direction of Charles Wilkes .
