The Cape Day is a headland at the Scott Coast of the East Antarctic Victoria Land . It marks around 17.5 km east of Mount Gauss (not to be confused with the Gaußberg ) the south side of the mouth of the Nordenskjöld ice tongue into the Ross Sea .
The cape was discovered and named by participants in the Nimrod expedition (1907–1909) of the British polar explorer Ernest Shackleton . It is named after Bernard Day (1884–1934), a participant in the expedition and the first driver of a motorized land vehicle in the Antarctic.
