The Cape De la Motte is a striking cape on the East Antarctic Georg V. Coast . It separates Watt Bay from Buchanan Bay . The continental ice shelf rises immediately south of the cape to a height of 520 m in the form of Mount Hunt .
It was mapped during the Australasian Antarctic Expedition (1911-1914) under the direction of the Australian polar explorer Douglas Mawson . This named it after Clarence W. Petersen De la Motte (1892-1970), third officer on board the ship Aurora on this research trip .
