Cape Elliott is an icy cape that marks the northern end of the Knox Coast in Wilkesland , East Antarctica . It sits on the Shackleton Ice Shelf , 45 km southwest of Bowman Island .
The cape was mapped using aerial photographs taken during Operation Highjump (1946–1947). The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1955 after Jared Leigh Elliott (1805-1881), Presbyterian chaplain on the USS Vincennes , flagship of the United States Exploring Expedition (1838-1842) under the direction of the American polar explorer Charles Wilkes .
