The Cape Reichelderfer is a round, mainly ice-covered cape at the Wilkins Coast of Palmer Lands on the Antarctic Peninsula . It is located about 6.5 km east of DeBusk Scarp on the west bank of Stefansson Strait .
It was spotted on December 20, 1928 during a flyover by the Australian polar explorer Hubert Wilkins . Scientists from the United States Antarctic Service Expedition (1939–1941) mapped the cape in 1940, but incorrectly located it as Cape Rymill . This was corrected in 1947 by the Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (1947-1948), whose leader Finn Ronne named the cape after Francis Reichelderfer (1895-1983), the head of the United States Weather Bureau .
