The Cape Tennyson is a rocky headland on the north coast of the Antarctic Ross Island . The cape is about 40 km southeast of Cape Bird and marks the eastern boundary of Lewis Bay .
Participants in the British Southern Cross Expedition (1898–1900) led by the Norwegian polar explorer Carsten Egeberg Borchgrevink discovered it in February 1900. Borchgrevink named it after the British poet Alfred Tennyson (1809–1892).
