Chapel in Märxle

The Roman Catholic chapel is located in Märxle , a district of the Oberschönegg community in the Unterallgäu district ( Bavaria ). The chapel, built in 1885 by Joseph Schwehr, according to an inscription on a Solnhofen slab above the entrance, is a listed building.

The north-facing chapel is at the western end of the hamlet, on the road to Dietershofen . The apse is retracted and has a five-eighth closure on the outside . Inside, however, the apse is rectangular. A roof turret is placed above the southern gable . This is covered with a sheet metal tent roof. The interior has a flat ceiling and a neo-Romanesque altar . The wooden crucifix on the west wall of the chapel dates from around 1700.
