The Chapel of St. Bernadette is the Roman Catholic chapel in the Obergeich district of the Langerwehe community in the Düren district ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).

history

There were plans for a chapel in Obergeich at least since the 1920s. On December 4, 1923, a chapel building association was founded with the aim of building a chapel for Obergeich. Exactly ten years later, on September 23, 1934, the foundation stone for the chapel was laid. On December 9, 1934, the chapel was consecrated and dedicated to the French nun Bernadette Soubirous .

Since then, the chapel has been owned by the Obergeich chapel building association. During the Second World War , the chapel was badly damaged, only the outer walls were not destroyed. The reconstruction of the church began as early as 1946 .
