The Karai ( Russian Карай , in the upper reaches Mokry Karai (Мокрый Карай)) is a right tributary of the Chopjor in the Russian Oblast of Saratov .

The Karai has its source in the Oka-Don plain . It flows through the upper reaches as Mokry Karai in the northwest of Saratov Oblast, in parts along the border with Tambov Oblast, a hilly landscape in a southerly direction and after 139 km meets the Chopjor on the right. The catchment area of the Karai covers 2680 km². The river is mainly fed by the snowmelt . The mean discharge (MQ) 16 km above the mouth is 6.3 m³ / s. The water of the Karai is used for irrigation . Shortly before the opening of the Karai happens Rajonverwaltungszentrum Romanowka .
