Granite blocks in Hapis Boğazı near Karakız

Karakız is a municipality in the district Sorgun the Turkish province of Yozgat . The place is about 15 kilometers east of the county seat Sorgun and 50 kilometers east of the provincial capital Yozgat .

To the northeast of the municipality is the Hapis Boğazı valley , through which a stream flows to Çekerek Çayı . An area of ​​2.5 × 1.0 kilometers from Karakız to Hapis Boğazı is littered with granite blocks that break through the topsoil. The area was in Hittite times, in the late 2nd millennium BC.
