Karandere

Until 2014, Karandere was a municipality in the Şereflikoçhisar district of Ankara Province in Turkey . It has been part of the city of Şereflikoçhisar since the territorial reform of 2014 .

history

It is a village at the foot of the hill Ardıç (Ardıç Tepe) in the municipality of Şereflikoçhisar , which belongs to the province of Ankara and is located in the center of Anatolia. The place was on the Silk Road.

In the 1960s, the first inhabitants of Karandere began to settle in German cities and communities such as Sindelfingen , Schönaich , Magstadt or Calw .

Since 2008, the " Karandere Friendship and Culture Association eV Sindelfingen " has been celebrating the "Pilav Şöleni" (rice festival) annually in Sindelfingen .

Location / geography

The village is located about 160 km southeast of Ankara , 10 km east of Şereflikoçhisar and 65 km west of Aksaray.

climate

There is a dry continental climate. In the winter months, temperatures can drop slightly below zero. In the summer months of July and August, temperatures of up to 35 degrees are reached. Most precipitation falls between November and May; In the period from July to September there is almost no rain.

economy

Most of the population works in agriculture.

Karandere is famous for its "Hacıbekir" kavun (melon), its rich Anatolian cuisine and its view of the Tuz Gölü (salt lake).
