As a teenager, he was interested in digital image manipulation. At the age of 16 he was in a car accident and was confined to bed for some time. During this time he developed "Karborn" as an alter ego. In the mid-2000s, she studied at the Vancouver Film School in Canada with the help of a scholarship from the renowned British Computer Arts magazine.

Karborn had his first solo exhibition in 2008 at the Sónar Festival in Barcelona. Another solo exhibition took place at the Brick Lane Gallery in London. As a graphic designer he designed advertising campaigns for Adidas, the New York Times, Nike and Wired and worked as a freelancer on campaigns for AKQA , Edelman and Ogilvy & Mather .

Private

Karborn lives in the London borough of Bow. He was dating actress Daisy Lowe from October 2017 to early 2018 , which resulted in significant coverage in the British tabloids.

plant

Karborn processes photos digitally into picture collages, which he prints on canvas or other supports. In the same way, he designs sound carrier covers, for example for the easy listening project Crombie, the hip-hop group TRDMRK or the soundtrack for the British TV series The Last Post . He occasionally works metal objects or vegetable or other organic materials into the canvas prints. He regularly presents the digital templates live as projections, to which he as a DJ adds electronic music, preferably dubstep and "old-school electronica". In an interview with IDG magazine Digital Arts , Karborn described himself as an “interdisciplinary designer” and his art as “adaptive” insofar as he faces “a process of creative (...) evolution”.

reception

The US-American culture magazine XLR8R describes Karborn's work as “wonderful, multimedia art”, the elements of which come together to form a “perfect, symbiotic harmony”. The British Dazed magazine sees the “visual artist loaded with dubstep and bass tons” as a representative of a “London urbanism” that is “beautifying the city” with his work. The British magazine for young artists NeverLazy describes his work as “detailed and dynamic mixed media works” that combine “complex digital processes with organic elements”. The design magazine We and the Color found Karborn to “combine organic elements and a digital processing process” and thus create a “distorted, mostly surreal world” in which digital and organic elements overlap and interact with one another.
