philosophy

Since its founding, AKQA has counted innovation , service , quality and thought among its corporate values. The agency's philosophy was also captured in the book Velocity: The Seven New Laws For A World Gone Digital , written by AKQA founder and CEO Ajaz Ahmed and VP Digital Sport at Nike, Stefan Olander. According to Ahmed, the book describes the way AKQA thinks and works and introduces its readers to seven laws that, among other things, a. The following include: A Smith & Wesson beats four aces , It's easier done than said , Convenient is the enemy of right and No good joke survives a committee of six .

history

AKQA Inc. is founded in 2001 with four offices in the UK, USA and Asia. In 2001 and 2002 the agency accompanied the “Nike Run London”. In 2002 more than 20,000 starting places were sold via an e-commerce platform developed by AKQA. In 2003, AKQA worked with Visa USA and MSN to develop ideashappen.com , a platform that invites visitors to submit suggestions for entrepreneurial and community-based ideas. In the first month, the campaign attracts a million visitors. The agency is launching the Nike Presto shoe online with a collective of street art artists, allowing users to interact with art, sound and hidden animations.

In 2004 the agency opened a New York office to facilitate access to clients and talent on the East Coast . AKQA Ideas: Volume 1 is also published, in which the agency's work is presented on 100 pages. The book will sell out on Amazon and the proceeds will be donated to charities such as NSPCC and Prince's Trust.

In 2005 AKQA Interface Design Practice supported the Microsoft software group in programming the new user interface for the Xbox 360 game console. In 2006, AKQA Mobile was founded as an independent department. In the same year AKQA developed "Future Lions" in collaboration with the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity . In this annual competition, students are given the task of “promoting a product from a global brand in a way that would not have been possible five years ago”.

In 2007 AKQA opened new offices in Amsterdam and Shanghai and took over SearchRev, which was converted into a search engine marketing company. Sales are increasing by 45% this year, and Fiat eco: Drive is also being presented at the Paris Motor Show, an app for the car that is designed to reduce CO 2 emissions and fuel consumption through data measurement . In 2008, AKQA was listed on the AdAge Digital A-List, and AKQA's Christmas card is a viral success and mentioned in over 400 blogs.

In 2009 AKQA was named in the AdAge Book of Tens as one of the outstanding agencies of the decade and won the Cannes Lions Grand Prix in the “Cyber” category for Fiat eco: Drive. Other products this year are the Alternate Reality Game for the Warner Bros. film “221b”, the parody “Alpine Legend” for Xbox and the “Born to Run” campaign for Save the Children . In 2010 the agency opened its third office in Europe in Berlin.

In 2011, the company won awards around the world with the dual-screen game "Heineken Star Player" and is listed as the "Most Award-winning Digital Agency" in the Gunn Report. In addition, the agency is voted “Agency of the Year” by the Campaign and Adweek magazines. In January 2012 AKQA opened its fourth European branch in Paris with Nike as a founding customer. “Velocity” is published in collaboration with Ajaz Ahmed and Stefan Olander and with a foreword by Sir Richard Branson . In June, AKQA joins the WPP Group as an independent subsidiary of the world's largest communications group. In October, AKQA will start two additional locations in the USA: Atlanta and Portland. In November 2012 the agency expands in Asia and opens an office in Tokyo . In 2014 further offices were opened in São Paulo , Brazil and Gurgaon , India.

Awards and recognition

2011 AKQA was by the magazines Adweek and Campaign for "Digital Agency of the Year" nominated. After the overall evaluation of the most important international creative competitions in the advertising industry, the Gunn Report rated AKQA as the best digital agency of 2011. New Media Age awarded AKQA the title of “Most Respected Agency” after a vote among industry experts. AKQA has received over 100 industry awards, including regular entitled "Agency of the Year" in 2010 also for the second consecutive year the award Agency of the Year at the Revolution Awards, the award Agency of the Year by New Media Age and Interactive Advertising Bureau. In 2009 the agency won five independent Agency of the Year awards . The agency was named “Agency of the Decade” (1997 to 2007) by Revolution magazine. In 2006, US magazine Creativity awarded AKQA its first “Interactive Agency of the Year” award.
