Karen Buse

Karen Buse (born November 27, 1953 in Diepholz ) is a retired German lawyer . Buse was State Councilor and from 2011 to 2019 President of the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court in Bremen .

Education, job, family

Buse attended the Kippenberg high school in Bremen until she graduated from high school . From 1972 to 1978 she studied law at the University of Hamburg and the University of Bremen .

In 1978 she was qualified to be a judge. She then worked as a research assistant at the Regional Social Court of Bremen . From 1980 to 2005 she worked as a judge in Bremen, until 1991 (with a small interruption) as a civil judge at the Bremen District Court. In 1991 she was appointed judge at the Higher Regional Court, but at the same time she was sent back to the Bremen District Court, where she initially took on the role of Vice President. At the end of 1992 she was appointed Vice President of the Bremen District Court .

In 2005 Buse moved to Berlin and took over the office of President of the Charlottenburg District Court , one of the largest German district courts. On August 1, 2008, she was appointed Bremen State Councilor to the Senator for Internal Affairs and Sport as the representative of Senator Ulrich Mäurer .

Buse was appointed President of the Higher Regional Court (OLG) as the successor to Wolfgang Arenhövel (SPD) in December 2011 . She held the office until she retired on June 30, 2019. Her successor was Ann-Marie Wolff .

Buse is married and has five children.
