Kari Koskelainen (born May 24, 1982 ) is a Finnish floorball player who can be used flexibly on the offensive. His preferred position is the position of the center. Koskelainen is under contract with the National League A club HC Rychenberg Winterthur .

He became world champion with the Finnish national team in 2008 and took part in numerous international tournaments.

Career start in Finland

At the age of 15, the son of an artistic gymnast joined KKV Keravan. Its development did not go unnoticed. In 2000 he joined the Finnish top club Helsingfors IFK . He played a total of six seasons for the team from the capital Finland. The team around the center reached the playoffs in the 2001/02 and 2002/03 seasons. Then he could no longer qualify for the playoffs with Helsingfors.

Chr floorball

On January 13, 2006, Chur Unihockey announced that the Finn would move to Chur for the 2006/07 season. He scored 22 goals and 21 assists in his first season. Nevertheless, he left Chur for Turku at the end of the season .

Turun Palloseura

after only one season Koskelainen left Chur for his home country Finland . At Turun Palloseura he played two seasons and scored 100 scorer points in the regular season. Turku reached the playoffs in both years, with Koskelainen contributing another 15 scorer points.

Chr floorball

For the 2009/10 season he moved again to the Canton of Graubünden . Overall, Koskelainen contributed more than 200 scorer points in six seasons. With Chur he reached the semi-finals of the Swiss championship once, where the team failed against HC Rychenberg .

HC Rychenberg Winterthur

On April 10, 2015, the HCR announced that Koskelainen, the 32-year-old attacking player, would move to the canton of Zurich for the 2015/16 season. With HC Rychenberg Winterthur he will take part in the Schweier Cupfinal 2017 in the Swiss Arena . The contract extension with Koskelainen was announced on February 24, 2017 by HC Rychenberg Winterthur. His new contract ends after the 2017/18 season.

National team

Three years after moving to the IFK, at the age of 19, he was already in the squad of the Finnish national floorball team . Koskelainen became world champion with the national team in 2008 with a 7: 6 win over Sweden.
